An exhibition of new work from Abigail Waddell, Chris James and Kerry Phippen.
Chris James (also known as Cotswold Chris), works in wood, ceramics and oil paint. Chris lives and works predominantly in the Stroud area, capturing scenes in his lively and rapid compositions in a variety of media. Subjects vary from countryside to busy street scenes in Cotswold towns. Chris was the winner of a Contemporary Plein Air Award at the Cheltenham Plein Air Challenge in 2022.
Kerry Phippen, was born in Perthshire and has lived and worked in the Slad area for several years.
Working predominantly from her sketchbooks and walking on location in the Stroud valleys and Scottish Highlands and Islands, her observations are then developed into detailed and atmospheric drawings and paintings often featuring figures and animals in unspoilt, wild landscapes. Kerry is taking part in an artist’s residency in the Shetland Islands in summer 2023.
Abigail Waddell is a contemporary landscape painter working mainly in oils. Based in the Cotswolds, she is inspired by her local scenery as well as regular trips to North West Scotland. She enjoys working outdoors capturing the immediacy of light and movement in the skies in an impressionistic approach. Abigail was the winner of the Artists and Illustrators’ Peoples’ choice award in the British Art Prize 2022.
