WHO WE ARE?

SPRING CHELTENHAM is an artist-run gallery and hireable exhibition space, established by Cheltenham based artist Conrad P Clarke. www.conradpclarke.com.

The dream was to create a space which would be the perfect springboard for talented artists and creatives to exhibit a wide range of creative disciplines, to a whole new audience of people.

As well curating regular selected group shows showcasing talented emerging and established artist, he also recognised the benefit of artist being able to sell work directly to customers, so wanted to offer a “pop-up” environment for creatives to be able to curate their own exhibitions, in a simple and affordable way.

why we are different?

Artist-run galleries have long played an important role in world of art as they offer an essential counterpoint to the commercial sector. They contribute a place where artists can curate and showcase their work, meet new people, and experiment on their own terms, regardless of gallery representation or not.
Also, as a creative person, creative energy and stimulation often comes from proximity with other creatives and their work, so having a place to share and engage with one another is so valuable.

We offer similar advocacy and marketing that a commercial gallery/shop offers artist, but leave the curating and sales up to you. On top of that unlike a lot of hireable spaces, we aim to help you by being proactive in marketing your event through our social media and website, as well as striving to continually engage with our local community.

WHERE WE ARE:

Rotunda Terrace is an ideal setting for the project. Based in a beautifully restored Grade II listed building, it has a generous front window onto Montpellier Street in the centre of historic Cheltenham.  The street was largely built in the 1840’s and retains most of its original charm.  Easy to find with plenty of parking, its shops, bars, café’s and restaurants attract a broad range of customers, from loyal locals to visitors spending time on the edge of the Cotswolds.
